💼 The Role

We are looking for an excellent General Counsel to add value to and be the “backbone” of our company. You will offer counsel on a broad array of legal, contractual and corporate issues. your work will be integral to facilitating business strategies and development. The successful candidate will be able to ensure legal compliance and limit risk exposure.

🔎 Who you are

• You have a minimum of 5 years (ideally 10+) experience as in-house lawyer/General Counsel (scale up preferred)
• You are comfortable providing expert and strategic legal advice to management
• You have excellent drafting, reviewing and negotiating skills for complex legal agreements
• You can set and manage internal governance policies
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management, external legal counsel, and other stakeholders
• Proactively identifying or creating solutions that support and protect the business
• A team player with a can-do attitude and a commitment to delivering high-quality work on time and on budget
• Keep abreast of legislative changes
• Experience and interest in lending, payments and the financial or fintech sector

💭 What the job involves

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts including supplier agreements, NDAs, SAAS, technology licences, introducer agreements, mandates
• Providing legal advice on a range of day-to-day matters including compliance issues
• Provide legal guidance and support to the organisation on a variety of matters, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management
• Review and advise on legal and regulatory matters
• Liaise with external legal counsel on complex legal matters
